Our history

Since 1972 we have represented Switzerland’s intent to contribute to the restoration and conservation of the artistic heritage of Venice.

In doing so, we also wish to reassert the close, time-honoured relationship between Venice and our country by dedicating special attention to the restoration of works attributed to the many craftsmen and artists who came from our side of the border to devote great efforts and often brilliant achievement to the glory of the Serenissima.

How we operate

We choose the works to restore on the basis of urgent need indicated by the Superintendencies.

We do not hesitate to dedicate our efforts also to works defined as minor, restorations that may have little impact in terms of image: but we believe that their survival is as crucial as that of much more celebrated monuments to the historic texture that underlies the unique allure of the city.

Funding our projects

Once we have chosen a project we begin a close collaboration with the Superintendency responsible, leading initially to the production of a cost estimate for the operation.

On the basis of this we then look for interested donors, offering them the guarantee that all funds collected will be spent on the actual restoration work and the historical, artistic and technical documentation required to achieve the project in question.

At present

The restoration works on the façade of the Church of San Stae, a work by Domenico Rossi, in which our foundation participated, have been completed.
